William Holmes died from wounds on 13th November, 1916 after having been brought back to England but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 11th Rifle Brigade battalion were part of 59 Brigade, 20th Division that had arrived in France in July 1915 and had been involved in the fighting on the Western Front since that date, both at Ypres and on the Somme. |
